"One day you'll blink and he'll be all grown up."

I heard it over and over during my first pregnancy. All of those veteran mothers trying so hard to pass on this secret to me. I smiled and nodded each time thinking they were just exaggerating. But, they were so right! I know Cason is not grown yet (although he thinks he is.) But here I am celebrating my tenth Mother's Day - how did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday that I found my baby lying on the bed wearing a onesie on which Matt had written "Happy Mother's Day" with a sharpie? Now he's in third grade and has created the cutest Mother's Day coupon book ever. I can choose to have the kitchen cleaned, breakfast in bed, or even a free gift. But, I won't tell him that the one I can't wait to cash in will be the free hug! You never realize as the years are going by that the hugs and "I love you's" are starting to decrease. We've added more children to the mix and everything gets so busy. And in the midst of the chaos he's been growing up. Many days I pray for a do-over so that I can enjoy it more or I ask for time to stand still. But I haven't been granted these requests. My prayer this Mother's Day is for the awareness to treasure each moment I have with my children. And maybe for a little less blinking.
